WARNING! VIDEO ABOVE POTENTIALLY CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Hey there everyone! If you’re reading this post, chances are, you’ve probably heard of the Skyrim Democracy Live Series on the HotTips! YouTube channel. If you haven’t heard of it yet, take and click the link there and watch the short introduction video to it. If you like it, there are more streams available to see – Or you can watch the Episodic Version of the series, which has shorter episodes that are more focused on the progression of character/story/highlights of the longer streams.
Even if you have been following it, you may not have attended all of the live streams though. This page attempts to give you a brief recap into the issue that’s important to this vote, without adding any unnecessary spoilers. In some cases, spoilers may be unavoidable. I’ll keep them as light as I can while still providing enough context to allow for a coherent and informed decision. These decisions are written in a form that allows any of the decision to make sense if chosen. There are no dumb or bad choices, because the story can flow in any direction, for which you should read the summary of before voting. If you are into this series, but do not wish for any spoilers of any kind, please do not read any text below the line below. Thank you for your participation in this fun series.
In the latest stream, which is quite far ahead of the episodic version of the series, we’ve had a story development that requires community attention and feedback. The issue centers around Vampirism. Upon returning to Whiterun after a long trip, Hana encountered several Vampires in the town already terrorizing the people. She managed to defeat them, but was scratched in the process, which caused her to contract a strange illness she’s never had before. She feels unwell, and others around the town have noticed this as well, and have even made comments towards her regarding it. This condition is known as Sanguinare Vampiris, and it progresses to Vampirism (being a Vampire). The vote, which is embedded below, will determine Hana’s reaction to this illness, and may significantly alter the story moving forward. It’s up to you to determine her reactions. Here’s a breakdown of the narrative points to consider:
- Option #1: Seek Out A Cure, and be rid of Sanguinare Vampiris before it progresses further.
- Option #2: Do Not Cure… Because she’s interested in becoming a Vampire.
- Option #3: She’s oblivious to this illness, and believes it will go away on it’s own. She does nothing about it now.
Hana can consult the many people she’s met and the knowledgeable people around her to determine what this illness is. She has heard from one of the Whiterun Guards in the past that you can become a Vampire just by being scratched by them, and believes this may be the case with herself now. Upon hearing the truth about what she is to become from knowledgeable sources that have had a look at her, she’s determined to find a cure before it is too late. She seeks out a cure, and one is concocted for her in the form of a potion. She pays for it, and is cured.
Hana can consult the many people she’s met and the knowledgeable people around her to determine what this illness is. Upon hearing the truth about what she is to become from knowledgeable sources that have had a look at her, she’s intrigued by what the future could hold. The power of the Vampire’s she’s faced in the past did exceed her expectations. They have been some of the most difficult fights of her life so far, and perhaps this new realization causes her to want to learn more about what it means to be a vampire. What power does it hold? Perhaps this curse… could be something of a blessing for her in the future. With the uncertain prospects of being stronger in the future (albeit with some consequences she may not fully understand), Hana embraces the unknown, and goes about her business with the quests she’s currently on, allowing this illness to progress further on its own.
Hana’s been sick before. It’s nothing new, and she’s definitely felt worse than she does now. She prepares some of the remedies she remembers from her afternoons with her mother long ago, and after taking some of her prepared medicine, feels better. Surely whatever this little bug is will blow over in time. — This path leads to the same result as option 2, in that she’ll become a Vampire. However, her reactions, and the reactions she’ll have from some of the… err… side effects, will differ from option 2.
So there you have it folks. These are your proposed options. Voting closes when the January 13th Live Stream starts at 4:00pm EST on YouTube. Below is the embedded voting form. If you cannot see it for some reason, clicking this link will take you to the same form. For those of you familiar with Skyrim mods, please also note that SACROSANCT is installed in this play-through, so being a vampire is also dramatically different in this Skyrim compared to what you may have experienced before.
